Deeply Valued Passions: “Pressured System”

So let’s continue right where we left off.  As I mentioned last time, in this three-part blog series be prepared to be invited into the world of some of my closest friends' deeply valued passions. You've witnessed me grow as a result of my passion. But I thought that it was time that I exposed you to the cumulative bodies of art that others have created, to celebrate them and to get you thinking about something meaningful that you can create.

The 2D graphic designer and creator behind “Pressured System” is a 20-year-old American University student from PG County, Maryland. He is a 2D graphic design artist who is pursuing a career in the business and entertainment industry. As a graphic designer, he has landed himself an internship with U Street Music Hall, where he creates promotional graphic design and fliers for community concerts and events. Thinking long-term, his hope is to make commissions for people and ultimately print his work on a canvas. For right now, he is diligently working on his craft and versatility. His interest in design began with an AP 2D computer design class in high school, that has lead him to this very moment as a creator. His goal as a graphic designer has been to create something that allows viewers to uniquely identify his work; something that you look at and know that it is his very own. Creating work that is memorable, unique, and that makes a statement is so important as a creator. It’s how you ensure that your work transcends people, cultures, and time periods.

For your viewing pleasure, feast your eyes on just two of the many graphics, both above and below that he has made.

He often starts each piece with three primary colors that later evolve into a complete composition of art. He is inspired by colors, patterns, apparel, and sometimes even by daily encounters that he has. In many of his work, you will see friends of his featured and surrounded by a series of intricate shapes and designs. Have you ever heard the saying that “art mimics reality, and reality mimics art”? Pressured System is a statement of this graphic designer’s approach to handling life. In a world, where we all tend to face pressure to live up to societal norms, we must create an avenue out of that box of suffocation. And that’s what is brilliantly being done here. So again, if you’re still not completely moved by having a passion project as an outlet for branding and networking, then let it be a form of escape for yourself.

Did you know that having a creative outlet is a brain stimulating activity? It can improve the overall productivity and wellness of your life. Some of the most incredibly successful people also have passion projects. Part of their success has been because they have made time to create. What better way to spend your free time than committing to something that you absolutely love doing? Start thinking about what deeply-valued passion that you want to serve as your life’s work.
