When your internal energy source is light, pure, and filled with goodness, there is nothing outside of you that can permanently destroy that. Obviously all of us weren’t meant to be or have the desire to be the next Mpress Yara, but I think her coming of age story as an artist can teach us something extremely powerful about the importance of getting back to channeling our own creativity.

What you take away from change is steeped in exploring those emotions you were feeling. You can make it out on the other side of anything with grace. 

According to a Washington Post article, “a 2015 report by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center found that 37.2 percent of college students changed schools at least once within six years, and of these, 45 percent changed their institution more than once.” One of my life-long friends, Shainae, grappled with the same issue after packing up her life from a small island in the Caribbean and making her way across waters only to realize that she wasn’t happy.

Growing up in Honduras… Maybe it’s not what you expect to read, or maybe you don’t even want to read it, but you’ll learn something valuable. 

When we stop limiting ourselves, what we’ve created is a more profound sense of autonomy and ownership over our own lives. 

What began as an undeniably exhilarating experience and love for performing on stage developed into a passion project that uses poetry as a vehicle to delve into some of the most pressing political, personal, and social experiences of our time.

Did you know that having a creative outlet is a brain stimulating activity? It can improve the overall productivity and wellness of your life. Some of the most incredibly successful people also have passion projects. Part of their success has been because they have made time to create.

You've witnessed me grow as a result of my passion. But I thought that it was time that I exposed you to the cumulative bodies of art that others have created, to celebrate them and to get you thinking about something meaningful that you can create. 

In a note to our past selves, we underline the harsh but essential truths that we have come to discover and provide a guide for overcoming both internal and external conflicts that we have come to witness.
